A professional book is more than just a sequence of chapters. Wigma’s Content Tree allows you to structure your manuscript exactly how it will be printed or published.
The Three Pillars of Book Structure
Using folders and documents in the left sidebar, you can organize your project into the standard components of a published book.
1. Front Matter
These are the pages that appear before your story begins. Create a folder named “Front Matter” to hold:
- Title Page: The title, subtitle, and author name.
- Copyright Page: Legal disclaimers, ISBN, and edition notices.
- Dedication & Epigraph: A brief dedication or a thematic quote.
- Table of Contents: (Wigma can auto-generate this during export based on your chapter titles).
2. Body Matter
This is the core of your manuscript.
- You can group documents into Parts or Acts using folders.
- Inside those folders, create individual documents for each Chapter.
- For complex novels, you can even break chapters down further into individual Scenes.
3. Back Matter
These pages follow the conclusion of your main text. Create a “Back Matter” folder for:
- Epilogue / Afterword: Final thoughts wrapping up the narrative.
- Acknowledgments: Thanking those who helped you.
- About the Author: Your bio and links to your other works or website.
Exclude from Word Count: You can toggle specific folders (like Front and Back Matter) to be excluded from your Progress Manager’s total word count, ensuring you only track the actual words of your story!
